ACUNS relies on the work of volunteers to assume leadership roles and manage the organization. ACUNS likewise develops partnerships with universities around the world in order to organize its flagship programs – the Annual Meeting, Annual Workshop, and the Global Governance journal. To this end, ACUNS calls on individuals and institutions to nominate themselves or their peers to assume various roles for the organization. These positions offer leadership opportunities for individuals and enhance the prestige of institutional partners. All ensure that ACUNS can operate and fulfill its mission to advance scholarship on the UN system and international affairs. Below is a list of five categories of nominees which are called for by ACUNS. For further information, a link is provided to an independent page dedicated to each opportunity.
Leadership Nominations: Every two years ACUNS Calls for nominations for Directors of the Board and for Officers. More information on these positions and on the nomination process is available here.
Annual Meeting Host: Every year a different university or research institution hosts the ACUNS Annual Meeting, held in June. More information on the call for nominations for conference hosts is available here.
Institutional Host: Since 2021, ACUNS operates as an independent nonprofit organization. Nevertheless, ACUNS calls on universities to serve as institutional hosts, which provide a headquarters for its staff and ongoing operations. Institutional hosts serve for five year terms. At present, ACUNS does not have an institutional host and will announce a call for nominations shortly. More information on the nomination process for institutional hosts is available here.
Global Governance Host: Every five years, a new university assumes responsibility for hosting the Global Governance journal. In tandem, a new editorial team takes the reins for managing the publication. Brigham Young University is the host for the journal for the period 2018-2023. Annual Workshop Host: Every year a different university or research institution hosts the ACUNS Annual Workshop, typically held in July or August. More information on the call for nominations for workshop hosts is available here.
