The Academic Council on the United Nations System (ACUNS) is excited to welcome you to its new website! ACUNS is an independent nonprofit organization incorporated since 2020 in the State of New York. Some thirty years after its establishment, ACUNS made this important structural change to organizational independence in order to provide a durable foundation for its ongoing development. A new visual identity and website mark the start of this new ACUNS chapter.
Although the formal corporate structure of ACUNS has changed, the goals of the organization have not. ACUNS remains committed to uniting scholars and practitioners active in the work and study of the UN. Through its programming, including but not limited to the flagship Annual Meeting, peer-reviewed scholarly journal Global Governance, and ACUNS-UN Workshop, ACUNS continues to disseminate knowledge on the UN system and international affairs as well as to develop networking opportunities for its members and community. Through our newly established Global Governance Innovation Network, ACUNS will strengthen connections between scholars studying the UN system and practitioners who operate within it.
All individuals and institutions who are interested in the UN system, global governance, or international cooperation are welcome to join and participate in ACUNS programs. Whether you are a past member or are learning about ACUNS for the first time, we invite you to (re)join by signing up for membership via the individual or institutional registration forms. The ACUNS Board of Directors and Officers look forward to working with the broader ACUNS community to steer the future development of the organization.
