Dr. Roni Kay M. O’Dell is Assistant Professor of Political Science (Environmental Politics) at California State University San Marcos. She currently lives in San Diego, California. Her research, writing, and teaching activities cover topics at the intersection of human rights, human development, and environmental governance. She served as the co-Treasurer for ACUNS since 2023. She has also served on the boards of several other organizations connected to the United Nations and to substantive topics such as the Human Development and Capability Association (as Director-at-Large on Executive Council), International Studies Association (member and former leadership with Global Studies section), National Model United Nations (actively engaged as advisor and former Advisory Council Member), and Amnesty International USA (member and former National Resolutions Committee Representative). Published books include Globalization and Human Development (co-author Devin Joshi), Global Politics: A Toolkit for Learners (co-author Sasha Breger Bush) and a forthcoming monograph with Springer Nature: Creating the Sustainable Development Goals: A Civil Society Perspective. She holds a doctorate in international studies from the University of Denver, Colorado, and a master’s degree in international policy from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, Monterey, California. Previous positions include at Seton Hill University and Cameron University.
