Diego F. Osorio Special Assistant to the DSRSG/RC/HC, UN Assistance Mission to Iraq UNAMI |
Diego will offer his personal observations about the social and humanitarian context of the current crisis in Iraq, the divisions in Iraqi society, and the challenges faced by the international community in responding to the crisis. He will also give his ideas on how, if at all, the international community – including Canada – can do more to address these underlying core problems.
About the Speaker
Diego F. Osorio serves as Special Assistant to the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Resident Coordinator/Humanitarian Coordinator for Iraq, in the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI). Diego has almost two decades of experience in public administration, working with the United Nations, NATO, and the World Bank in Afghanistan, Iraq, Kosovo, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Jordan, Timor Leste, Colombia, Pakistan, Indonesia (Banda Aceh), and Liberia.
