The United Nations Environment is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. The Governance Affairs Office engages with and guides all relevant stakeholders ranging from Member States, major groups and stakeholders as well as business and the private sector.

The internship is located either in the Civil Society Unit or Private Sector Unit of the Governance Affairs Office, within UN Environment, based in Nairobi, Kenya.

1. The Civil Society Unit, engages on civil society matters and ensures effective participation of major groups and stakeholders in UN Environment work at all levels. These allies and partners to UN Environment provide long-term, broad-based and essential support for UN Environment’s mission and mandate;

2. The Private Sector Unit is the coordinating hub for UN Environment’s engagement with businesses and helps integrate private sector engagement at all levels in the organization.
