Keynote Speaker: Tim Karr, Free Press

Tim is the senior director of strategy for Free Press, where builds on the organizations global grassroots and policy work to promote universal access to open networks and protect free speech everywhere. He was a founding member of Sir Tim Berners-Lee’s WebWeWant coalition, where he serves on the advisory committee. Before joining Free Press, Tim served as executive director of MediaChannel.org and as vice president of Globalvision New Media, where he created a global network of more than 300 local news outlets. He has also worked extensively as an editor, reporter and photojournalist for the Associated Press, Time, Inc., the New York Times and Australia Consolidated Press. Tim critiques, analyzes and reports on media and media policy for the Huffington Post, PBS MediaShift, BillMoyers.com and on his personal blog, MediaCitizen. Follow him on Twitter @TimKarr.
