Dear Members of the ACUNS Community,

In response to an open call for information by the UN Office of Drugs and Crime, ACUNS is seeking submissions on recommendations and best practices for the investigation and prosecution of the gender-related killings of women and girls. These submissions will be collected into a single e-document and submitted to the UNODC.

As you may recall, the ACUNS Vienna Liaison Office has been closely engaged with the UN resolution “Taking Action Against Gender-related Killings of Women and Girls.” At this year’s session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, the resolution ” and since then, the resolution has received the approval of both the Economic and Social Council and the Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Affairs Committee (Third Committee) of the General Assembly and was adopted by the UN General Assembly in December 2013. The resolution underlines the considerable input of many civil society organisations, as well as academia, in addressing different forms of violence against women and girls, through research and direct action in their respective communities.

Submissions to ACUNS can be sent to [email protected] and will be collected into a single e-document and submitted to the UNODC.

For further information, the UN Resolution and the UNODC’s Letter to NGOs and Academic for information are available to download. More information can also be obtained by contacting Andrew Koltun at akoltun(at)acuns.org.
