Women in International Security (WIIS)*Canada is pleased to host the 7th Annual Workshop for Women in International Security. We invite applications from graduate students for participation in this year’s WIIS-Canada workshop, to be held May 29 – 31, 2014, at Carleton University (Norman Patterson School of International Affairs).

Students may apply to participate as either presenters or observers (please specify). For the research portion of the workshop we invite graduate students to submit proposals broadly related to the conference theme:Canada and NATO: Capabilities and Priorities in an Uncertain Environment. This includes but is not limited to:

  • NATO and Afghanistan
  • Alliance capabilities/Smart Defense
  • NATO relations with the UN or other regional organizations
  • NATO enlargement and the partnership for peace or other partnerships
  • NATO-Russia relations
  • NATO, Counterterrorism, Cybersecurity
  • NATO partner relations and relations with Non-NATO allies

Students are encouraged to submit research related to their thesis or dissertation projects. Proposals may be submitted in English or in French and those selected for panels may present in either language.  Women in Defense and Security (WiDS) is sponsoring a 500$ award for the best paper presented at the conference.
