A Global Agenda: Issues Before the United Nations 2010-2011

Irwin Arieff, Foreword by Sir Brian Urquhart (Eds.)

The United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA) is pleased to announce the publication of the 2011-2012 edition of its highly respected “A Global Agenda: Issues Before the United Nations.”

Among the challenges covered in this year’s book are: the mass uprisings in the Middle East; a look at Iran’s suspected quest for nuclear weapons; how international experts are trying to prevent funding of terrorists in Somalia; international aid programs in food-short developing nations; and international efforts to carry out free and fair presidential elections in crisis-torn countries.

Other articles look at a religious-inspired scare campaign in Nigeria that helped fuel a resurgence of polio in 20 countries, general global health issues, global population growth, and opinions on the position of UN Secretary General.

The book includes 37 essays written by veteran diplomats, current and former UN officials, technical experts, academicians, and journalists.
