About the Meeting

The Academic Council will hold its Tenth Annual Meeting from 25 to 27 June 1997 in San Jose Costa Rica.  Hosted by the Center for Peace and Reconciliation of the Arias Foundation for Peace an Human Progress, this two-day conference will examine the role of regional and sub-regional arrangements and the United Nations system. The conference format will include three plenary sessions that will address issues related to peace and security, human rights and security, and sustainable development and security. These plenary sessions will be followed by smaller, simultaneous workshops, A fourth and final plenary session , led by three rapporteurs will “take stock” of all panels. Simultaneous interpretation will be offered for all plenary sessions, the Business Meeting, and one panel under each of the three main conference themes.
