Niemetz, Martin, “Promoting Global Civil Society: How to Increase the Input of NGO’s into Security Council Deliberation”, Journal of Human Rights Practice, Advanced Access published June 11, 2013.
Targeting a lacuna in the academic literature regarding the involvement of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with the United Nations Security Council, the present article goes beyond the analysis of past developments and provides a forward-looking perspective on potential institutional innovations concerning the promotion of NGO input into the Council’s decision making. It provides an overview of current efforts in this regard and outlines their prospects by evaluating both their desirability and their feasibility.
